Dr. Ann Payne-Johnson is an assistant professor of family medicine at the University of South Alabama. Her background in providing family-centered care, both working as a family exercise instructor and a marriage and family therapist, ultimately led to her earning her medical degree in 2000. Prior to joining USA in 2021, Dr. Johnson was a family medicine and obesity medicine provider with Ascension Sacred Heart in Pace, Fla.
Dr. Johnson has extensive training and experience in change management and electronic health records implementation and optimization. She has chaired multiple national ambulatory EHR committees, ensuring that what providers document is able to be data-mined across various EHR platforms. Her training of physicians and other health care workers in quality and documentation has led to extensive improvement in ratings and increased revenue.
A native of New Orleans, Dr. Johnson earned her medical degree from the Spartan Health Sciences University in Vieux Fort, St. Lucia. She completed residency training in family medicine at the University of Tennessee in Jackson, Tenn. She is double board certified in family medicine and obesity medicine.
Haleigh has more than 13 years’ health care leadership experience, with extensive experience in health care operations. Her experience over the last 13 years has been in practice operations, community-based home care, hospice services, care coordination, policy review, and hospital and physician practice management. Prior to joining Gulf Coast TotalCare, Haleigh played an instrumental role as the director of operations in community-based home care, serving twelve counties in west central Georgia. She later served in leadership operations with both the UAB and USA Health Systems. As a native of Mobile, Haleigh is a dedicated champion of improving access to health services to achieve better outcomes for her community. She holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Health Services Administration from Auburn University.
